Treatment Room Services (CTAC)

The treatment room nurses carry out many procedures including; blood tests, ear syringing, injections, blood pressure checks, dressing of wounds.

Patients are referred to the treatment room by the doctor or practice nurse.

Wound management

  • Leg ulcer assessment/Doppler Check
  • Lacerations
  • Post operative wound checks
  • Post avulsion of toe nail care (podiatry)
  • Suture/staple removal
  • Burns
  • Wound assessment
  • Steristrip application

Skin care – treatment and advice

  • Psoriasis
  • Eczema
  • Sunburn
  • Skin disorders

Injections and vaccines

  • B12
  • Aranesp
  • Zoladex
  • Sustanon
  • Prostap
  • Revaxis (not for travel)

Specimen/swab collection

  • Swabs for infection i.e. wound, throat, ear and eye
  • Mycology sampling (hair samples, skin samples)
  • Sputum collection

Phlebotomy – Blood Taking

  • Routine phlebotomy

Eye care

  • Advice, swabbing and eye drops

Other clinical interventions

  • Blood pressure as part of medication monitoring (related to treatment room care only)
  • Taking emergency samples for CDM patients (urgent blood sample required following lab results)
  • Blood glucose monitoring
